Do you have an idea for a sustainability project, program or research and are looking for that extra encouragement (and some funding) to make it a reality? Summer break is the perfect time to develop your idea.
The Office of Campus Sustainability would like to remind you about the Sustainability Seed Fund originally launched this past Earth Week that gives students, faculty, and staff the opportunity to advance sustainability across campus. The President and Cabinet have generously allocated $50,000 of one-time funding to support campus sustainability initiatives over the next two years. Students, faculty, and staff can apply for funding for sustainability projects, research, and programs on a rolling basis.
In just three months, the Seed Fund has supported:
- Huichieng Chien’s local water quality research
- Larry McGlinn’s new on campus weather station
- Sustainability leadership professional development for Will Hong and Michael Sheridan
- Sara Hsu’s upcoming carbon tax forum
- Andrea Frank’s feedback future feed sustainability think tank
- Eric Keeling’s on campus tree inventory and research
- Scott LeVine’s tour and work session of energy efficient driverless vehicles
- Kara Belinsky’s campus bird biodiversity research
- Suzanne Stokes’ upcoming first year art kick-off event at Ashokan focusing on sustainability
