What is Level 2 charging station?
Level 2 EVSE can easily charge a typical EV battery overnight, and it is a common installation for residential, workplace, fleet, and public facilities. The typical charge time ranges from 4 to 8 hours, depending on the vehicle being charged. Level 2 EVSE offers charging through a 240-V (typical in
residential applications) or 208-V (typical in commercial applications) electrical service. Level 2 charging adds about 10 to 20 miles of range to a PEV per hour of charging time, depending on the power level of the onboard charger.
How will I know when my vehicle is fully charged?
Chargepoint will contact you via text or email, based on your Chargepoint user preferences, when your vehicle is fully charged.
What considerations should I keep in mind when shopping for an electric vehicle?
- It’s most cost effective to charge your electric vehicle at home over night.
- Strive to purchase a vehicle that you can drive from home to campus and back on one charge.
- Plan on using the campus EV stations for “topping off,” rather than for daily charging.
