A Student Ambassador is the primary student contact between the public and SUNY New Paltz in the area of Undergraduate Admission. A Student Ambassador is charged with serving as a host to visiting prospective students and their families as well as providing guidance and information over the phone and through e-mail.
Whether it is a new staff member, current student, general visitor, or a prospective student seeking information, Welcome Center Greeters are there to provide them with information in a patient, friendly, accurate, and helpful manner. At times, the Welcome Center may be the first point of contact someone has with our campus and as such, it is important that all Greeters make callers and visitors their first priority in order to leave a positive, lasting impression.
Each Student Ambassador and Welcome Center Greeter is expected to carry out all tasks assigned to them in an exemplary manner. They are called upon to assist with the hiring and training of new Ambassadors, T.A.L.O.N.S., and Welcome Center members as well as assist with the organization of large scale events. In many instances, Ambassadors and Welcome Center Greeters participate in events and tours outside of the Office of Undergraduate Admission.
Anyone interested in becoming a Student Ambassador or Welcome Center Greeter must meet the following criteria:
