Raised in the Philippines and on Long Island, Domenico Ruggerio is a transformative leader and social justice educator. Domenico is the executive director of We Are Family, the oldest nonprofit in South Carolina, providing lifesaving and life-affirming programs for LGBTQ+ youth. They earned a master’s degree in humanistic/multicultural education at SUNY New Paltz and a B.A. in sociology and anthropology at Colgate University. Previously, they worked in higher education, supporting and empowering students of color and LGBTQ+ students and communities at the College of Charleston, Bard College, Vassar College, and Oberlin College in Ohio.
