My name is Donna Mazzaro. It was Sica when I attended New Paltz. I was from Yonkers, New York. I started college at New Paltz in the fall of 1988. I lived on the second floor, girl's side of Scudder Hall. On the very first day of school, I happened to meet Joe Mazzaro from Massapequa, New York who lived on the second floor guy's side of Scudder Hall. We became instant friends. I did not know then that he would become my husband.
All of our friends were friends. We spent a lot of time together talking about dates, classes, family, etc. At the beginning of our spring semester, 1989, Joe and I realized there was something more to our feelings for each other than just being friends. We started to date exclusively on January 24, 1989 and have been together ever since. We share many fond memories of our time at New Paltz. Our picture even made it into the September 7, 1989 edition of The Oracle, page 3. We both worked for Service America in the SUB for a couple of years. We enjoyed many sunny days at Mohonk Mountain. We loved to have dinner together at "The Rat" or Top of the Tower Restaurant, or go to P&G's for some burgers.
Joe and Donna MazzaroOur time at New Paltz ended with graduation in May of 1992. Joe received a bachelor's degree in Marketing and I received a bachelor's in elementary education. We were married on June 24, 1995. We currently live in White Plains, New York and have never been happier. We often look back on our time together at New Paltz as the best years we've known. It is fun to visit, which we do each year, and remember the wonderful memories, friends and love we shared while we were there. When we have children, we hope to take them back one day and tell them all about how we met and what we did while we were there. Well, we probably won't tell them everything we did.
