She also assists students in these majors to prepare to apply for job and internship opportunities. Chris collaborates with faculty, student groups and colleagues to create career exploration programs, workshops and events for SUNY New Paltz students.
In addition, Chris teaches two sections of Internship & Career Practicum, a course designed to focus student attention on their career plan and to prepare students for successful entry into the professional business environment. Each Fall and Spring semester SUNY New Paltz hosts the Networking Fair for Jobs & Internships. Chris plans and organizes these fairs with Beth King, the center's Internship Coordinator. This event gives all students an opportunity to network with employers who come to campus specifically to meet students and discuss the company’s internship and job opportunities.
Chris's other focus is employer relations as it relates to connecting students with professionals in their area of study or career direction. She organizes site visits to companies and on-campus employer information and networking sessions so that students can make informed decisions about how to go from college to career.
