SUNY New Paltz December 2019, January 2020, May 2020 and August 2020 Graduates:

Congratulations again! We hope this note finds you and your family well given the uncertainty of this past year.

We’re writing with a brief update on our plans for a Commencement celebration this spring, and to invite to you share your thoughts with us on a quick survey about your interest in participating.

Our planning staff is working diligently to design a Commencement that honors the achievements of students who were scheduled to walk in May 2020, while also following SUNY and state public health guidelines. Safety remains our top priority. If in-person ceremonies can proceed, the events for 2020 graduates would be held on a separate weekend from 2021 graduates. But the uncertain nature of the pandemic, and our limited ability to predict what conditions will be and what rules and regulations will be in place this May, require us to prepare for multiple contingencies.

While we are unable to share more details at this time, we hope and expect to be able to do so soon.

Are you interested in hearing more from us about this year’s celebration? We’d love to hear from you!

Please use this link to take a quick survey about possibly returning to campus for Commencement this May. We’re trying to get a sense of how many graduates who were eligible to walk in 2020 are interested in participating this year, and what your priorities are, to help us plan a positive experience for all.

The survey should only take about one minute to complete, and should be submitted no later than midnight on Tuesday, April 6, 2021.

TAKE SURVEY NOW!

Cap & gown information will be sent separately, and you can visit the commencement website for further information as well.

Again, we thank all graduates and their families, as well as all faculty, staff and alumni, for their patience. We look forward to sharing more information about this year’s Commencement celebration soon.

Sincerely,

SUNY New Paltz Office of Commencement
