Athletic/Wellness Center
The new Athletic/Wellness center is being developed just south of Elting Gymnasium. The facility will be located on the site of the former Air Structure and will be connected to Elting Gymnasium. Student activity spaces within the building will include a cardiovascular wellness center at one semi-circle end, and a weight training fitness center at the other. These two areas will be connected with an overhead, glass-enclosed running track above a premium varsity basketball/volleyball court. The court area will also serve as a practice area for many teams and general student activities. The entire complex of 57,000 square feet will be fully air-conditioned and designed to promote health and fitness for all. Several new athletic fields with improved storm drainage systems are planned, and a new west-side campus entrance will be built with additional parking. The current entrance to campus via Southside Avenue will close. These changes are designed to ease traffic conditions in the Village of New Paltz. Overall the project will be not only an asset to the college but also to the community.
The March 28th dedication was a success and the facility has been fully operational since. Project is complete.
