Photovoltaic- Elting Gym
During the spring of 2011, the College will be installing a photovoltaic system (solar panels) on the Athletic and Wellness Center roof. The panels will tied into the electrical grid. The goal of this project is to generate electricity for use by the College that will be both cost effective and "green." The system is expected to generate up to 71,956 kilowatts annually, which should result in savings of approximately $8,000 per year. The cost of this project is being off set by a grant from NYSERDA (New York State Energy Resource Development Authority) and ARRA (American Recovery and Reinvestment Act).
The installation of the photovoltaic panels on the Elting Gym and Athletic Center is complete. System is up and running to specs.
