Student Union Building Addition
The Student Union advisory committee, IKON.5 Architects and a nationally renowned Student Union Building specialist has evaluated the New Paltz building regarding its specific needs and visibility relative to the campus as a whole. The program developed includes expansion of the building into the courtyard between the existing Student Union and the Haggerty Administration Building to include the creation of additional campus conference space, impromptu student presentation/gathering space and a grand entrance to our campus bookstore. It also relocates offices while enhancing the north side of the building on the lower three floors. The project during construction and later during operation will be the most environmentally friendly project the campus has ever witnessed, complete with low/zero impact mechanical and electrical support systems as well as sustainable finishes throughout.

The grand opening of the "Atrium" took place on Sept. 13, 2010. The interior of the space was designed for comfort and is filled with many pieces of over-sized modernist furniture. The new addition to the building, the largest campus-managed construction project in the College's history, will be enjoyed for many years to come.
