Students composed more than 600 handwritten notes to faculty and staff at February's 100 Days to Commencement event, thanking them for their mentorship and compassionate teaching. Frequently asked question of the day
|
|
What community resources are available to support students right now?
The Division of Student Affairs is compiling a list of local agencies and support networks that are open and providing a range of valuable services to members of the public.
The list is being updated regularly with contact information for organizations offering information about COVID-19; crisis intervention and assistance; help with food insecurity; substance abuse disorder treatment, including Narcan kits and training; resources for LGBTQ+-identifying individuals; and more.

Some inspiration from @newpaltzmetal: "So pleased to see the adaptability of our students as they set up workspaces off campus! Whether that be in a garage, basement, or a desk in your bedroom, it’s so important to try to stake off a small space dedicated to creative thinking."

Frequently asked question of the day
|
|
Is the campus sponsoring professional travel by faculty and staff during the COVID-19 response?
No. All campus-sponsored travel for state business has been cancelled through June 30, 2020, the end of the fiscal year, as part of the College’s practice of safe social distancing and in light of CDC guidance.
We continue to urge all campus community members to limit non-essential travel and carefully consider any travel plans.
Employees who wish to appeal this policy for travel related to state business should submit appeals to their supervisors and the appropriate vice president for evaluation.

Frequently Asked Question of the Day
|
|
If students opt into the Pass (P) grade option for spring 2020 courses, can those courses be used to satisfy minor requirements?
Yes. Courses for which a student has earned a P grade will satisfy degree, major and minor requirements and can be applied whether or not the student has declared a major or minor. There may be restrictions for accredited programs leading to licensure or certification.
Students will be able opt in to this new Pass grade option beginning May 21, and the opt-in period will continue through Oct. 16. We encourage students to discuss this option with their advisors after their spring semester courses are graded. The method for requesting the P grade will be developed and communicated before the end of the semester.

Frequently Asked Question of the Day
|
|
Is the Campus Food Pantry still open?
Yes, but the Food Pantry is no longer accepting walk-in visitors as part of the College’s practice of social distancing.
The Food Pantry has created a Google Form for accepting emergency requests from students living off campus.
Requests should be submitted Sunday – Wednesday to allow staff to gather items in a reasonable time frame. Students will receive email confirmation when their requests have been received and are ready for pickup. The confirmation email will include additional instructions for pickup.
The Food Pantry staff is available to answer questions at nppantry@gmail.com. You can also follow on Instagram (@nppantry) and Facebook (@SUNY New Paltz Food Pantry).

Frequently Asked Question of the Day
|
|
Is the College offering any additional Pass/Fail options for the spring 2020 semester?
Yes. The College will allow students to opt in to a special Pass (P) grade option for spring 2020 courses.
Unlike the standard S/U option, courses for which a student has earned a P grade will satisfy degree and/or major requirements in the same manner as letter-graded courses. Students will be able to apply P grades to letter-graded courses only when they have earned a D grade or higher. There may be additional restrictions for accredited programs.
Students will be able opt in to this new Pass grade option beginning May 21, and the opt-in period will continue through Oct. 16. We encourage students to discuss this option with their advisors after their spring semester courses are graded. The method for requesting the P grade will be developed and communicated before the end of the semester.
