Reopening FAQ of the day
When will students know if their classes are in-person, online or hybrid?
We recognize that many students are waiting on this information to finalize their plans for the fall 2020 semester.
Faculty, academic deans and campus administrators have been working tirelessly to comb through every course section and determine how each section will be delivered.
We anticipate that updates to the schedule of classes will be posted on July 16, to allow students ample time to confirm their living arrangements and, if necessary, cancel their on-campus living assignments ahead of the July 20 extended deadline to receive a refund on their Advance Room Deposit (see Deposit FAQ for more info about the refund request extension).
The College's fall 2020 reopening plan is highly detailed and dense, and our corresponding list of FAQs runs to nearly 10,000 words (and counting!). In an effort to make this very important information more digestible for campus community members, we're highlighting questions and answers in this newsletter, one per day, as the fall semester approaches.
Please note: We are working to update and add FAQs as planning continues and this situation evolves. We will prioritize sharing the most current information in this space.

Student Capstones and Thesis Work
It was genuinely difficult to keep up with the staggering volume of galleries, exhibitions, original research and video presentations New Paltz students published at the end of the 2019-20 academic year. We'd like to take time this summer to spotlight individual projects and give this exceptional scholarship and creative work its due.
Today, using cameras, electronic displays and common sense to help drivers find parking spots before they even enter the lot. This project comes from the 2020 Engineering Design EXPO.
 
Smart Parking

"The information from the camera will send the parking spots available to the display board in front of the parking lot. This will notify the drivers of open spots. Since the display is only showing the available spots, the incoming traffic will see what spots are available before looking for a parking space ... The crucial factors of this kind of parking system help minimize carbon emission, reduce traffic congestion and save time and fuel because the camera observes all cars in the lot."
