Student Capstones and Thesis Work

It was genuinely difficult to keep up with the staggering volume of galleries, exhibitions, original research and video presentations New Paltz students published at the end of the 2019-20 academic year. We'd like to take time this summer to spotlight individual projects and give this exceptional scholarship and creative work its due.

Today we're focusing on the Art Education Program. As this year's seniors adapted to remote student teaching in the visual arts, they also created their own pieces reflecting on the sudden and unexpected transition. The collected works of the Art Education Program's 2020 class can be viewed via this link.

The Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art put out a call to Hudson Valley artists in early April, asking how they're staying creative while social distancing. The response has been overwhelming: More than 250 artists have submitted work to the Stay Home, Make Art virtual exhibition in less than two months. We couldn't resist sharing "New Paltz," Tamara DelBoccio's painting of the village's iconic skyline. The full collection can be viewed on The Dorsky Museum's Facebook and Instagram pages.
