SUNY New Paltz on Instagram
It’s been a challenging semester, but there are great things on the horizon.
We’re thankful for all the staff who worked ’round-the-clock to keep our campus clean, safe and operational; all the faculty who continued providing high-quality learning experiences in uncertain circumstances; and all the students who persevered, balancing school, work, stress, family, friendships, mandatory testing and everything else life threw at them this fall.
Most of all, we’re thankful to everyone who adopted a “We Not Me” attitude this semester. It takes a community effort to adjust to life in a pandemic, and the SUNY New Paltz community rose to the occasion. Thank you all, and have a wonderful holiday.

"Floating Verses" is an original soundscape music installation created by Assistant Professor Phyllis Chen and performed live in varied locales using mechanical music boxes. For this video, Chen and students in her Applied Composition course took their music box pieces to Mohonk Mountain House, adding delicate, atmosperic sounds to the serenity of the lake.

“Academic institutions are at the forefront of producing new knowledge and understanding about the world in which we live. Throwing it waaay back this Thursday with our friends at Historic Huguenot Street (@huguenotstreet). This photo of the Rosendale Trestle and Joppenbergh Mountain (about 10 minutes north of campus) dates to the 1880s. The cement mines depicted here were a key engine of the Ulster County economy for more than 100 years, producing materials that were used in the Brooklyn Bridge, the Statue of Liberty and the Washington Monument, among other landmarks.

While we can't be together this year for the College's Veteran's Day Dining In tradition, we wish to express gratitude and appreciation for all those who have sacrificed throughout their military service, including the many SUNY New Paltz students, faculty, staff and alumni who are veterans or service members.
Members of our community, including President Donald P. Christian, U.S. Representative Antonio Delgado and Director of Veteran & Military Services Jason Gilliland, took a moment to create this video toast to those who have served.
Faculty who are interested in learning more about how they can support military-affiliated students at New Paltz are encouraged to join Gilliland for a Q&A tomorrow, Nov. 12, at 11 a.m.
