Campus Photo Detail #6: Humanities Mural
This was a tricky one! Congratulations to Callie Quinn '22 (Communication Studies) for being first with the right answer, and thanks to everyone who played along this week.
Even if you walk by it every day, you might not know the origin story of this mural, which has been a part of the Humanities building since 2004. It was created by Uruguayan artist and Professor Emeritus Rimer Cardillo, who taught printmaking and design at the College for many years. Titled “Environment and Culture: From the Amazon to the Hudson River,” the work illustrates Cardillo's blending of his Latin American roots and his adopted home in New York.
Learn more about Cardillo and the mural (and see some nearly two-decade-old photographs from the installation!) at his website.
