Commencement 2021
Campus Photo Detail #7: The Mace of Office
The Mace and Chain (pictured above at Commencement 2019) are core components of the annual Commencement exercises at SUNY New Paltz. Designed and created in 1981 by Professor Emeritus Kurt Matzdorf, who founded our award-winning Metal Program, these beautiful objects lend pomp and circumstances to our ceremonies, symbolizing the enlightenment to be gained from higher education.
Congratulations to Anastasiya Sotova '21 (Geography) and everyone else who recognized the Mace in yesterday's newsletter.
