Learn about our various majors and minors.

Digital Media & Journalism is one of the largest academic departments on campus, offering majors in Journalism, Digital Media Production and Digital Media Management. We combine methods from the humanities and social sciences in our study of how people share and represent ideas through mass media. Our faculty value freedom of speech and the press as tools for informing and promoting a democratic dialogue.

The department also offers the College's only distinguished visiting professorship and has had three Pulitzer Prize-winning journalists and best-selling authors on campus to teach classes. Students and faculty have earned regional, state and national awards.

Hear Professor Gregory Bray '00, a New Paltz alum, talk about the opportunities offered by the DMJ department and the accomplishments of its students and faculty:

The Department's overall mission is to draw from the traditional strengths of a Liberal Arts education and prepare its majors for graduate degrees to support their intellectual and professional growth.
