Your Path to the CIA

Apply-now-buttonThese are the steps to get you there:

  1. Submit your nearly completed application to the CIA, providing everything but proof of English proficiency.
  2. Once the CIA reviews the application, they’ll issue you a conditional admissions decision.
  3. They’ll then send your application documents to SUNY New Paltz.
  4. We will inform you of your acceptance into HELP and issue the initial Form I-20, allowing you to schedule a visa interview.
  5. You will take a placement test to determine your skill level, and be placed in the corresponding English
level at SUNY New Paltz when you arrive.
  6. Once you complete level 4 of HELP, submit your certificate to the CIA.
  7. The CIA will then issue a full admit letter and place you in the next available entry date.
  8. You’re a CIA student!

Why the Haggerty English Language Program?

It's convenient

The SUNY New Paltz campus is closer to the CIA than any other ESL program site, so you can easily visit and get to know your new college while completing one of the fall, spring, or summer English sessions.

It's the best value

When it comes to living expenses for an ESL program, you won’t find a better deal. Also, HELP is residential, so you can live on the SUNY New Paltz campus while you’re taking ESL courses.

It's a great way to get to know the area

As a CIA student, you’ll call the scenic Hudson Valley home—and during HELP you can explore the region’s many restaurants, attractions, and activities in advance.

It's an easy transition to the CIA

The partnership allows you to receive a conditional acceptance to the CIA, meaning you’ll be fully admitted once you complete your ESL studies at SUNY New Paltz.
