E-cigarette and Vaporizer Safety
E-cigarettes and vaporizers can pose an explosion and fire hazard depending on the quality of the product manufacturing and after-market batteries and accessories. As with all electrical and electronic appliances, SUNY New Paltz requires an Underwriters Laboratories certification (UL Listing) for e-cigarettes and vapes. Lithium Ion batteries are often produced in unregulated countries and shipped to the U.S. without the necessary safety certifications, including counterfeit UL hologram labels.
