The Bachelor of Science in Visual Arts (BSVA) degree program offers students the opportunity to develop a vibrant studio art practice that may extend beyond a specific medium and is activated and contextualized through an academic minor in a discipline of their choice.
This degree is for students who are excited about diverse ways of making, have interests in multiple subject areas, and want to combine their passions in their future career. The BSVA degree allows greater flexibility in the studio arts because the student may choose to concentrate their studies in one particular studio or pursue an interdisciplinary path. The BSVA degree, along with the required academic minor, provides an abundant breadth of knowledge while allowing the student to develop skills in multiple mediums. The balance of art classes to liberal art classes provides a well-rounded undergraduate education.
The Career Resource Center is a great resource for gaining valuable skills and information such as identifying possible career paths and possible minor choices for students. The CRC Assistant Director, Dawn McCaw, acts as the Career Specialist for Fine & Performing Arts and enjoys working with our creative students in pursuit of their career interests and integrating the arts into their careers and lives.
