The SUNY New Paltz Symphonic Band is guided by a philosophy that seeks to connect students to the greater community through creative performances of great music written for wind and percussion instruments. Through the rehearsal and performance of diverse repertoire, students are exposed to a wide variety of expressive possibilities, compositional ideas, and rehearsal processes that challenge each student to develop their individual musicianship.

Membership is by audition, and is open to all students, regardless of major.
