Intergenerational Conversations

Intergenerational Conversations: Overcoming Communication Challenges

Many business-owning families avoid having difficult conversations. They often think these conversations will create more conflict, open old wounds, or shine a light on issues that the family is not ready to tackle. Many families also have topics that are off-limits and struggle to establish effective intergenerational communication. Thus, it is not surprising that a lack of communication is the root cause of about 60% of family business failures. In this interactive workshop, we will explore common communication challenges of business-owning families, identify the taboo topics and generational misunderstandings that fuel conflict, and learn tools for starting difficult conversations and overcoming communication roadblocks.
