Join President Wheeler as we kick off inauguration by highlighting how student and faculty collaborative efforts contribute to the goals of public higher education. The president will ask participants to consider some of the biggest questions impacting the University’s work. How do student-faculty collaborations influence the common good? How do they show us how to build a better society and how to help one another? How do we refine our ability to sit with conflicting ideas?

Have some fun with peers and mentors as we celebrate this historic moment on campus. Visit the Lecture Center to learn from student/faculty collaborative teams about their research, see dynamic presentations from more than 40 student organizations, and enjoy a scavenger hunt with passports.
April 20: Investiture Ceremony
The investiture marks the ceremonial installation of President Darrell P. Wheeler as the University’s ninth president and will bring together the campus community, higher education dignitaries, elected representatives, alumni and neighbors to celebrate the past, present and future of the University. Festivities begin with an academic processional and the ceremony will be immediately followed by a community reception. All members of the SUNY New Paltz community are invited to attend.

April 21: Our University, Our Future: The Impact of SUNY New Paltz in the Region and Beyond
Opportunities to reflect on how public higher education can support and serve society on the local and global levels. We’ll also use this day as an opportunity to thank campus visitors with special tours and a farewell and appreciation brunch.

Student Ambassadors will lead condensed, 45–60-minute tours for out-of-town guests and others who would like to see more of what makes SUNY New Paltz the top-tier public university in the Mid-Hudson region.
