The Mathematics Laboratory is a walk-in tutoring center offering help with mathematics for students enrolled in any course on campus. The lab is staffed primarily by adjunct faculty and student assistants. The lab has seating for about 20 students. Proctors help students on a first come-first serve basis. Some use the Math Lab to get help with specific homework problems or when they find they don't understand a particular topic. Others choose to do all their homework in the lab knowing that if they get stuck, help is available. Some students form small study groups and use the lab as a place to meet and get help if needed. Students can get help from the instructors proctoring the lab and from the reference materials on hand. Help is available for the developmental and introductory mathematics courses as well as more advanced mathematics courses. Students working on material from other departments (business, biology, physics, chemistry, psychology, etc.) who are having trouble with topics requiring some mathematics are also welcome to use the lab.

Students interested in additional, regularly scheduled, small-group tutoring sessions may wish to review the math support offerings available through the Center for Student Success via my.newpaltz.edu.

Questions or suggestions should be forwarded to the lab coordinator, Rachel Lilley, via e-mail at lilleyr@newpaltz.edu or by phone at (845) 257-3444.
