Interim Vice President for Student Affairs

Kathleen Lieblich assumed the role of interim vice president for student affairs on July 4, 2024. In her interim role, she provides division leadership and ongoing strategic planning and direction supporting the holistic student experience at New Paltz while also overseeing the following units in the division: the Psychological Counseling Center, Student Conduct & Community Standards, Student Health Service, University Police, Residence Life and Athletics, Wellness & Recreation.

Lieblich came to New Paltz as Assistant Vice President for Student Wellbeing in August 2023. As the new AVP for Student Wellbeing, Lieblich supervised units including the Disability Resource Center, Psychological Counseling Center, Office of Student Conduct & Community Standards, Student Health Service and the Coordinator for Wellbeing Initiatives & Outreach. She served as point of contact for faculty on student concerns and lead the new SUNY New Paltz CARE (Consult, Assess, Refer, and Educate) initiative, launched in spring 2023, which works confidentially to center students who are showing signs of being at risk.

Lieblich brings more than a decade of experience as a leader in higher education student affairs to SUNY New Paltz. She previously served at SUNY Old Westbury as dean of students, overseeing units dedicated to disability services, student conduct, food and housing insecurity, student engagement, student leadership and involvement and residential life during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Lieblich previously held roles in residence life, student advocacy and prevention awareness at Hofstra University (her time there included a year as interim assistant dean of students) and at Sacred Heart University, where she began her student affairs career as a residence hall director.

She holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Sacred Heart University and is pursuing an Educational Doctorate (Ed. D.) in Educational Leadership and Change from SUNY Empire State College, with expected completion in 2025.
