SUNY student injured off campus

Early this morning, the New Paltz Police Department notified the College that a SUNY New Paltz student was stabbed during an altercation at Cabaloosa’s in downtown New Paltz. College officials are assisting with the investigation. Student Affairs personnel are in contact with the student and the student’s family. The New Paltz Police Department is investigating an assault that occurred earlier this morning.

At about 1:50am the New Paltz Police Department responded to a large fight at Cabaloosa’s bar in the Village of New Paltz. While on scene, officers located a patron who had been stabbed inside the bar. Officers administered first aid and the victim was transported to an area hospital by Mobile Life ambulance. There is no further information about the victim’s injury at this time.

The investigation is continuing and the New Paltz Police Department is asking anyone with information to contact them at (845) 255-1323. All calls will be kept confidential.

The New Paltz Police Department was assisted at the scene by the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office, the New York State Police, the SUNY New Paltz University Police Department, the Town of Lloyd Police Department and the Shawangunk Police Department.
