The State University of New York at New Paltz Receiving department is located in the Service Building (SB) 102A, and is staffed Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Feel free to contact Peggy Clark at x3331 to answer any questions.

The Receiving department serves to receive and deliver all items purchased on New York State or Research Foundation Purchase orders. We do our best to deliver items within one week after receipt and will contact the vendors in case of damages.

Please unpack items as soon as possible after receipt so that any errors or damages can be reported to us while the item can still be returned.

Occasionally, items purchased on NYS or RF purchase order may need to be returned to the vendor for a variety of reasons: the wrong item was ordered, the wrong item was shipped, the item is defective, etc.

If this happens, please contact the Purchasing department as soon as possible. Purchasing will stop payment on the item, notify the Receiving deparment of the return, and send you two copies of the "Approved Return Form" - one for your records and one to include with the item you are returning. You should then make arrangements to have the item delivered to the Receiving Department located in the Service Building where they will have it shipped out.

Please be sure to inspect your deliveries as soon as possible. A defective item must be returned as soon as possible or the vendor may not be required to accept the return. If a return is necessary, immediately contact the Purchasing Department at x3190 to begin the process.

Due to space restrictions we cannot store department items any longer than two weeks. Please prepare storage for your items ahead of time.
