New First-Year and Transfer Students

• Thursday, August 22nd
• Students check in at their assigned residence hall between 10am - 5pm or 8:30pm - 11pm

Returning Students*

• Sunday, August 25th
• Students check-in at their assigned residence hall between 10am - 5pm, or 8:30pm - 11pm

* All students who have been registered for classes at SUNY New Paltz in a previous semester are considered returning students, and check in on this day.  This includes students who have previously lived on campus, and students who have been previously registered but did not live on campus.

Move-in day instructions will be email to all students on the week of August 5th.

Sunday, September 1st

• Last day for 100% room rent refund
• Students who take a Leave of Absence, withdraw from college or are approved for a release from on campus housing between move-in day and September 1st receive a 100% room rent refund

Monday, September 2nd

• Last day to submit Room Condition Form on my.newpaltz.edu

Sunday, September 8th

• Last day for 70% room rent refund
• Students who take a Leave of Absence, withdraw from college or are approved for a release from on campus housing between September 2nd - 8th receive a 70% room rent refund

Tuesday, September 10th

• First students can request room changes

Sunday, September 15th

• Last day for 50% room rent refund
• Students who take a Leave of Absence, withdraw from college or are approved for a release from on campus housing between September 9th - 15th receive a 30% room rent refund

Sunday, September 22nd

• Last day for 30% room rent refund
• Students who take a Leave of Absence, withdraw from college or are approved for a release from on campus housing between September 16th - 22nd receive a 30% room rent refund
• Students who take a Leave of Absence, withdraw from college or are approved for a release from on campus housing after September 22nd do not receive a room rent refund

Friday, December 20th

• Residence halls close at 10am, except for the 10-month buildings*
• Students must leave the non-10 month residence halls no later than 10am

*  Athletes who live in 10-month halls (Ashokan, Awosting, Bouton and Gage Halls) can stay in their rooms.  Other students that live in 10-month buildings (Ashokan, Awosting, Bouton and Gage Halls) may pay to stay in their rooms during all or parts of winter break.  

All students

• All students check in at their assigned residence hall between 10am - 5pm or 8:30pm - 11pm

Sunday, January 26th

• Last day for 100% room rent refund
• Students who take a Leave of Absence, withdraw from college or are approved for a release from on campus housing between move-in day and January 26th receive a 100% room rent refund

Monday, January 27th

• Last day for new residents to submit Room Condition Form on my.newpaltz.edu

Sunday, February 2nd

• Last day for 70% room rent refund
• Students who take a Leave of Absence, withdraw from college or are approved for a release from on campus housing between January 27th - February 2nd receive a 70% room rent refund

Sunday, February 9th

• Last day for 50% room rent refund
• Students who take a Leave of Absence, withdraw from college or are approved for a release from on campus housing between February 3rd - 9th receive a 30% room rent refund

Tuesday, February 11th

• First students can request room changes

Sunday, February 16th

• Last day for 30% room rent refund
• Students who take a Leave of Absence, withdraw from college or are approved for a release from on campus housing between February 10th - 16th receive a 30% room rent refund
• Students who take a Leave of Absence, withdraw from college or are approved for a release from on campus housing after February 16th do not receive a room rent refund

Saturday, March 15th - Sunday, March 23rd

• Residence halls close for Spring Break, except for 10-month halls (Ashokan, Awosting, Bouton and Gage halls)
• Residents living in non-10-month halls must vacate their buildings no later than 10am on March 15th
• Residents living in 10-month halls may stay in their rooms during all or part of Spring Break

Wednesday, April 9th - Friday, May 2nd

• Fall Room Selection - Students select rooms for Fall 2025
• All residents will receive an email with Fall Room Selection on March 28th

Friday, May 16th

• Residence halls close at 10am
• Students who are graduating and students living on campus in the summer can stay in their rooms until Sunday, May 18th
• All other residents must vacate their buildings within 24 hours of their last final, or by 10am on May 16th, whichever is sooner

Sunday, May 18th

• Graduating seniors must check out between 1pm-3pm
• Summer residents check into summer building between 2-4pm
