Niza Cardona

Niza Cardona '04g (Humanistic-Multicultural Education)Niza Cardona ‘04g currently serves as the Director of Student Accounts at SUNY New Paltz. She joined the university in 1998 as a financial aid advisor and was quickly promoted to the position of Bursar, overseeing funds. Despite her childhood dream of becoming a fashion designer, Niza is grateful for the opportunities for growth and positive change her new role has provided. Hailing from a humble background, she values giving back to the community and finds her work in Student Accounts fulfilling and impactful in effecting positive change.

When interacting with students, parents, or coworkers, Niza believes it's crucial to prioritize how she makes people feel about themselves rather than focusing on how much money is collected. She emphasizes empathy and respect for others in her daily work.

Niza received her master’s degree in Humanistic-Multicultural Education from SUNY New Paltz in 2004.

“I feel that receiving this award means the work I have done on campus thus far has been successful and that, hopefully, I have made a difference in the lives of our students, faculty, and staff.”
