Yet, as we navigate the unceasing demands of the business world, it becomes increasingly vital to recognize the power of pause. In this month's newsletter, we delve into the theme of why, even for the industry that never stops, taking a momentary respite is not just advisable but imperative. Explore the wisdom of downtime, its impact on creativity and productivity, and the unexpected opportunities it can unfold. As we usher in the holiday season, let's reflect on the importance of both professional rest and rejuvenation.
Club Grub's Swing at Revolutionizing Golf Course Dining
Meet the startup helping golf courses monetize their restaurants better.
Club Grub is the only mobile application that allows golfers to order food and beverage offerings
to be delivered on any part of the golf course.
The story of Club Grub began when the ambitious founder and avid golf player became
frustrated with the current procedure for ordering food while golfing. Spencer Potter grew up on
the golf course along with his father and brothers where the only food options were mediocre
quick eats such as a hot dog. This problem in the industry was exacerbated by the fact that golf is
a slow-paced game and there is no way to get food on the course other than pausing the game and going to the clubhouse. These problems not only are inconvenient for the golfer, but the course is missing out on potential food and beverage sales.
According to Spencer, “I invented ClubGrub after too many underwhelming golf course hot dogs
and recognizing the opportunity to drastically improve the golf experience through on-demand
food and beverage options, including fresh clubhouse fare, craft beers, premium cocktails, and
even salads, to be ordered from anywhere and delivered everywhere at the tap of a button.”
Club Grub is a mobile application that allows golfers to order food and beverage offerings to be
delivered at any point on the golf course. This modern solution allows golf course and club
restaurants to be more profitable by allowing their food and beverage sales to be managed by the
third-party application.
Club Grub came to the Hudson Valley Venture Hub (HVVH) through the Westchester-based
Element 46 program in September 2023. After pitching at the Fall Demo Night, Club Grub
received pitching support, and a chance to present to the community. Club Grub is working
through a few tracks within their accelerator, including working with a handful of our paid
advisors including: Taylor Davis and his sales process playbook, Paul Munguia to work through
the financial model, and finally Danny Potacki to work on overall strategy. Finally, so far in
2023, HVVH issued a microgrant for Club Grub to hire a business development assistant to help
as the company is ramping up and achieved some major press. As Spencer says, “The Hudson
Valley Venture Hub has provided us with countless support, guidance and mentorship that's
helping accelerate growth for our next phase.”
Club Grub is here to transform the golf experience. Club Grub plans to expand to more markets
both domestic and international. When asked about the future of Club Grub, founder Spencer
Potter said “We also have very exciting tech products in our pipeline that will automate even
more elements of the ordering transaction, reduce labor costs for our club partners, and make
ClubGrub the one app golfers cannot live without.” If you are tired of the lack of food options
and would like a frictionless food ordering experience at your golf club, tell your club or course
restaurant that you want Club Grub!
