Dam Good English Muffins Highlighting a mother-daughter duo that created a better mouse trap in the English Muffin Category

Dam Good™ English Muffins is the reinvention of the conventional English muffin that the market has been longing for. This endeavor allowed Denise Weale to return to her culinary roots by harnessing her degree in Culinary Arts from Johnson and Wales University and enables Olivia to combine her passion for healthy food with her business marketing degree all while simultaneously doing “Dam Good™” in their community.

Their product line includes four varieties - Original White, Whole Wheat, Multigrain, and Cinnamon Swirl - of naturally-fermented square-shaped(!) sourdough English muffins that are made with no artificial preservatives, enzymes, conditioners, seed oils, animal products or GMO’s (all of which are found in their competitors’ English muffins), and like the name suggests, are Dam Good™! Originally intended to reduce waste, their unique square shape provides more square footage for all your creations, making them the perfect vessel for everything from sandwiches and burgers to toasts and pizza and anything in between. The square-shaped design also makes the English muffins bigger than those of competitors!

So, why “Dam” with the “m?” Well, the name Dam Good™ English Muffins has three explanations. First, it references the New Croton Dam, nearby where they got their start in Cortlandt, NY. Second, the company strives to do Dam Good™ in their community and the world at large. In addition to donating their product and time to their local food pantry, Caring for the Hungry and Homeless of Peekskill, and Ronald McDonald House, Dam Good™ English Muffins is proud to be a Second Chance Employer utilizing an Open Hiring system. Last but certainly not least, they make Dam Good™ English muffins! Dam Good™ English Muffins has never engaged in any paid public relations support, yet they have received rave reviews from dominant figures in the culinary industry such as Bon Appetit in their article titled, “Dam Good English Muffins are Just That.”

Dam Good™ English Muffins came to the Hudson Valley Venture Hub in January, 2024 to gain assistance outsourcing business functions, since co-founders Denise and Olivia have been acting as the janes-of-all-trades since the company's inception. Although Dam Good™ English Muffins has only been partnered with the Hudson Valley Venture Hub for a short period of time, they have been able to obtain a microgrant as well as get connected to mentors and industry experts. Dam Good™ English Muffins recently pitched at the HVVH Spring Pitchfest in March, securing 2nd place against competition and winning a $3,000 cash prize.

Dam Good™ English Muffins are available to be shipped nationwide through their website as well as a plethora of retailers, including select Whole Foods and Mom’s Organic Market locations. Additionally, Dam Good™ English Muffins can be ordered through grocery delivery services like Fresh Direct, Hudson Milk & Market, Walden Local Meat and more! Check out their Store Locator page to find Dam Good™ English Muffins in a store near you.

When co-founder Olivia was asked about the future of Dam Good™ English Muffins, she said, “We strive to continue to disrupt the stale English muffin category by offering a good-for-you version of this timeless household staple for the modern-day consumer while doing Dam Good™ within our community and beyond. We envision our products living nationwide in the homes of those who cherish quality, flavor, and health-conscious choices.”
