What Is LiveText?
LiveText is the assessment platform used by the School of Education and a few other units on campus to facilitate assessment processes. In addition to the assessment function, LiveText provides secure cloud storage for student work, which can be used to create secure ePortfolios that demonstrate student growth and disciplinary mastery. These ePortfolios can then be shared with potential employers
Who is Required to Have LiveText?
Initial Certification Candidates: LiveText is a program requirement for all School of Education students in initial certification programs (i.e., all undergraduate students, as well as graduate students in the MAT or MST programs) beginning with the first Methods course. Account procurement occurs automatically when you are enrolled in the first Fieldwork course for your program, and the cost of LiveText is included on your student bill as a course fee. You will be notified via email when it is time to create your account.
Art Education Undergraduates: LiveText is a program requirement for all Art Education undergraduate students. Account procurement occurs automatically when you are enrolled in ARE 190, and the cost of LiveText is included on your student bill as a course fee. You will be notified via email when it is time to create your account.
CAS in Educational Administration: LiveText is a requirement for all Educational Administration CAS students. Account procurement occurs automatically when you are enrolled in either EDA 772 or EDA 763, and the cost of LiveText is included on your student bill as a course fee. You will be notified via email when it is time to create your account.
M.S. Ed. In TESOL, Special Education, or Literacy: LiveText is a requirement for all M.S. Ed. Students in these programs. Candidates are responsible for purchasing their LiveText membership, or for transferring their existing LiveText membership to SUNY New Paltz. Candidates who completed their undergraduate degrees at SUNY New Paltz and already have a LiveText account do not need to purchase another account. Questions regarding LiveText for these programs can be directed to the program coordinator.
