Melissa Richard hails from Baldwin, NY. She received the Robert Kyncl ‘95 & Luz Avila Kyncl ‘96 STEM Experiential Learning scholarship for research on the effects of climate change in freshwater lakes. Melissa worked as a Resident Assistant, Honors Peer Mentor and Genetics Study Group Leader at New Paltz. She graduated in 2022 with a B.S. in Biology. Melissa currently works as a dermatology medical assistant but plans to obtain a career researching and developing modern sustainable technologies/fabrics for the fashion industry, as well as developing her art and fashion skills through entrepreneurial side ventures.
