Planning Process
SUNY New Paltz is partnering with CampusWorks to develop a new strategic plan under the theme “Shaping Our Future Together.” The process emphasizes broad engagement and inclusivity, involving faculty, staff, students, community stakeholder groups, and University leadership.
The journey begins with a Strategic Planning Kickoff and workshops on Trends in Higher Education and The Ideal Student Experience, setting a collaborative tone and gathering input on the evolving needs of SUNY New Paltz. We are hosting Community Focus Groups, Faculty and Staff Focus Groups, and Student Focus Groups, gathering valuable insights to shape the plan. A University-wide SWOT survey will capture diverse perspectives on SUNY New Paltz’s strengths, challenges, and opportunities.
A Strategic Planning Committee (SPC) has been assembled to analyze these inputs to identify strategic themes and align them with SUNY New Paltz’s mission, vision, and values. Strategy Workshops will solidify key initiatives, followed by community partner reviews to integrate external perspectives. Campus leadership will engage in workshops to refine the University Mission and Vision and the Strategic Planning Committee will develop institutional values, strategies, and actionable objectives.
The University is committed to ongoing community engagement and transparent progress reporting, underscoring SUNY New Paltz’s dedication to empowering students, serving the community, and building a stronger future together.
