SUNY Chancellor's Award for Student Excellence
SUNY New Paltz President’s Award for Student Excellence
Nomination Deadline: Friday, January 31, 2025 (tentative) @ 12:00PM
For the Chancellor's Award for Student Excellence, SUNY seeks nominated students who have best demonstrated the integration of SUNY excellence within many aspects of their lives, which must include three of the following areas:
- Academic excellence
- Leadership
- Diversity, equity, inclusion and justice
- Campus involvement and community service
- Research and development
- The arts (creative or performing).
The achievements and accomplishments listed in their nomination should reflect why they are one of the top outstanding students SUNY-wide in each of the selected three areas. Achievements and accomplishments must have been attained during the timeframe enrolled.
Please do not include awards or recognition from previous colleges, high school, or experiences before the nominee enrolled at SUNY New Paltz. Nominated students with measurable, long-term accomplishments and achievements will be measured at a higher level than other achievements. Students' achievements that affect the greater campus community and/or a large number of students and/or community members will be valued higher than other achievements.
The President’s Award for Student Excellence follows the same criteria, but at the campus level as opposed to the SUNY-wide level.
Nominees must have a cumulative GPA of 3.70 or higher; be in good standing (academic and disciplinary).
While students may assist in the application process, the nomination itself must be submitted by a college employee. Only students graduating between June 2024 and May 2025 will be considered.
The following is a mock submission which serves as an exemplar sample, it is common for awardees to have robust information completed in each of the accomplishment areas.
