Rose Burnett Bonczek (pronounced “Bahn-zek”) is a New York based theater practitioner who has directed over 100 productions in New York, regional, international and educational theater. For the past 18 years, she has been artistic director of Gi60 (Gone in 60 Seconds) International One Minute Theatre Festival: US (gi60.com), collaborating with colleagues in England and New Zealand to produce 100-150 plays each year. To date, Gi60 International has produced over 2,000 plays available for viewing on the Gi60 YouTube Channel. Bonczek has been interviewed by NPR, BBC Radio, and the podcasts Onstage/Offstage and Relate with Patrick McAndrew.
As an educator, she developed and supervised the BFA Acting Program at Brooklyn College, City University of New York for over 20 years, and in 2018 she received the Excellence in Teaching Theatre in Higher Education Award from the national Association for Theater in Higher Education. A professor emeritus from Brooklyn College, she currently teaches and coaches privately (specializing in improv and ensemble building) and is a consultant with organizations such as Atlantic Theatre Company, Fordham University, The Theater Association of New York State, and CNY Arts Council of Central N.Y. Bonczek is the co-author of Ensemble Theatre Making: A Practical Guide with David Storck, Turn That Thing Off!
