Regina Calcaterra is The New York Times best-selling author and #1 international bestseller of “Etched in Sand, A True Story of Five Siblings that Survived an Unspeakable Childhood on Long Island,” a memoir about how she and her siblings survived growing up homeless and in and out of foster care on Long Island. Her memoir also includes her time at New Paltz and the positive impact that her professors had on her. Calcaterra’s second book, “Girl Unbroken, A Sister’s Harrowing Story of Survival from the Streets of Long Island to the Farms of Idaho,” a sequel to “Etched in Sand,” was released in 2016 by HarperCollins Publishing.
She is a founding partner at Calcaterra Pollack LLP, a women-owned law firm specializing in complex federal and state litigation, consumer protection, social justice, municipal representation and commercial litigation. Regina was named Crain’s New York Notable Women in the Law, 2001; Law Dragon’s Top 500 Plaintiffs Lawyers in the US, 2021-2023; Super Lawyers Top Rated State, Local and Municipal Attorneys, 2021-22. Calcaterra Pollack LLP is a NYS Certified Women Owned Business. She is an ambassador for You Gotta Believe, an older foster youth adoption agency.
Calcaterra received her Bachelor of Arts in political science from New Paltz and went on to receive her J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law. She currently resides in Southold, New York.
