Kyra Lazzaro ’05 graduated from SUNY New Paltz with a Bachelor of Science degree in childhood education. She received her Master of Science degree in childhood education from the College of Saint Rose while working as a substitute teacher. She then taught fifth grade for two years in Culpeper, Virginia before moving back to upstate New York where she worked a few odd jobs before going back to school to get her law degree.
In 2015, Lazzaro graduated cum laude from Albany Law School and worked as a prosecutor at the Bronx District Attorney’s Office. She moved back to Albany and became an assistant counsel for legal oversight for the SUNY Charter Schools Institute, overseeing compliance for over 150 charter schools. Lazzaro later worked for the Office of the State Comptroller in the Municipal Law and Finance division in 2019 before transferring to the Division of Investigations in April 2024 where she is currently an associate attorney working on uncovering fraud and referring cases for prosecution.
