Available in Fall 2024, the major in Media Studies introduces students to an academic field that focuses on the history, impact, and content of mass media. The Media Studies program aims to promote critical thinking at all levels of media production and consumption, develop students' command of media literacy, cultivate greater awareness of issues of diversity and representation in mass media, and enhance analytical and research skills as well as professional skills that today's media industry requires. A broad selection of elective courses enables students to focus on specific areas of interest, while a required internship and a senior capstone experience help to prepare students for complete the 41-credit plan of study1. During the capstone, students will develop their own creative and business proposals and prototypes of digital media content distribution.
1Credit total is based on a 3-credit internship (DMJ490 or DMJ461) and corequisite 1-credit Internship Seminar (DMJ491).
