Lambda Alpha Honor Society
Lambda Alpha is the national honors organization for anthropology. SUNY-New Paltz’s chapter of Lambda Alpha is Rho of New York, and has been active since 2011.
Benefits of Lambda Alpha Membership
- Membership in a national honors organization is beneficial for your resume.
- This is a lifetime membership, and you may list it among your honors/affiliations indefinitely.
- Members of Lambda Alpha may submit their work for publication in the national Journal.
- The National Executive Office provides sizable scholarships each year to two outstanding undergraduate members nationally.
- Members may purchase cloisonné tack pins with Lambda Alpha emblem ($10) or satin stoles for academic gowns ($25) to wear at Commencement.
Membership Requirements
- You must be a currently enrolled junior or senior
- You must have taken a minimum of 21 credits of Anthropology classes (approximately seven courses).
- You must have a minimum of 3.0 cumulative overall GPA, and a major GPA of at least 3.5.
Joining Lambda Alpha
- All anthropology majors who have been confirmed for Anthropology Honors may join Lambda Alpha.
