Alex Peh

Associate Professor Alex Peh debuted "Sky Islands"—a piece he'd been working on for the better part of a year with percussionist and 2018 Davenport Resident for New American Music Susie Ibarra—at the Asia Society in New York City in July 2024. Peh, on piano, performed the piece with an eight-piece ensemble which included Claire Chase on flute, Ibarra and Levy Lorenzo on percussion, and the four-member Bergamot Quartet (which comprises violinists Ledah Finck and Sarah Thomas, violist Amy Tan, and cellist Irène Han). See a video of the group rehearsing "Sky Islands" in advance of the world premiere on Asia Society's YouTube page.

Also this past summer, Peh traveled to Greece with a group of New Paltz music students, where great memories—and beautiful music—were made.
