Dorsky Spring 23 Artist in Residence
For their annual Artist in Residence program (AIR), The Dorsky invites a student from the talented pool of emerging artists that make up the SUNY New Paltz MFA degree program. By so doing, they deepen the education of MFA students giving them valuable professional experiences and enliven the creative community on campus.
This year’s AIR is Edgar Hartley. For his AIR project Edgar is working with the Museum to establish a browsable, accessible archive of work by queer artists in the Museum collection. Through his work with the archive, Hartley will reach out to artists in the LGBTQ+ and other underrepresented queer communities in the Hudson Valley and New York State. His activities will be the subject of several community engagement events (dates TBD). Hartley hopes to establish the archive so that experiences and voices of queer artists are not lost or forgotten.
