Duties: The State University of New York (SUNY) at New Paltz, seeks candidates for the position of Marketing Content Coordinator to join the Office of Communication & Marketing team, reporting to the Director of Marketing.
This Marketing Content Coordinator is deeply involved in all marketing initiatives at the University, from undergraduate and graduate degrees, to microcredentials and professional programs, to cultural and academic events. They work as part of a team to plan, create, publish and assess promotional campaigns that advance the University’s diverse strategic marketing goals and initiatives. The ideal candidate will have experience and intuitive understanding of how to connect with different audiences across channels, how to attract attention in a competitive marketing landscape, and how to deploy conversion strategies that generate positive awareness, recruitment and reputational outcomes for our public university.
Duties of the role include but are not limited to:
• Plan and compose attractive email marketing communications to support varied strategic goals, using tools including the Slate CRM and the Emma digital marketing platform.
• Harness the Slate CRM to tailor communications and campaigns for strategically defined audience segments.
• Assist in developing content and strategy for all phases of the customer journey, from awareness emails and newsletters to landing pages with clearly emphasized calls to action.
• Coordinate high-quality writing, photography and videography to support marketing campaigns on digital platforms including Meta, Google/YouTube, LinkedIn, TikTok and others, and traditional media including print, radio and outdoor display.
• Contribute audience-appropriate writing and design concepts for web and print publications.
• Analyze and assess key performance indicators for digital and traditional marketing campaigns, and contribute to a feedback loop wherein measurement of key performance indicators informs future strategies.
• Work as part of an editorial marketing team to ensure accuracy, proper formatting and alignment with established brand and style standards for all publications.
• Share ideas with teammates at editorial content meetings.
• As assigned, collaborate with students, faculty and staff across the campus to support their own marketing initiatives and communication goals, while ensuring that messaging, positioning and branding is consistent across all assigned projects.
• Keep current on best practices and trends through market research and professional development opportunities.
• Maintain and update creative and technical skills to build knowledge of trends, best practices and regulations in the field.
Qualifications: Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communication, public relations, English, journalism or a related field
• Two years or more of experience in marketing, communications, content creation and/or a related field
• Fluency in digital content standards, trends and audience expectations across email, web and social media
• Excellent writing, editing and proofing skills, and the ability to enhance written communication using visual media
• Ability to work independently to meet deadlines
• Availability to work occasional evenings and weekends as assigned
• Ability to travel to and from the SUNY New Paltz campus
• Valid driver’s license required
• Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred:
• Familiarity with the higher education landscape and unique challenges and opportunities within our industry
• Understanding of best practices in search engine marketing and search engine optimization
• Experience with Slate or a similar Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tool
• Ability to use digital analytics dashboards to generate reports and draw actionable insights
• Facility with graphic design tools (Adobe, Canva, etc.)
• Project management and organizational skills
