Duties: The Department of Psychology at the State University of New York (SUNY) at New Paltz invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Cognitive Psychology to begin in Fall of 2025. Candidates from any area of Cognitive Psychology are encouraged to apply. Expertise in Learning broadly construed (e.g., behavior analysis, machine/statistical learning, animal behavior) and/or advanced Quantitative methods preferred.
Standard course load In the department is 3/3 and includes both undergraduate and Master's level courses. Courses to be taught include Cognitive Psychology and some of the following: Psychology of Learning, History and Systems of Psychology, Introductory Psychology, Statistics, Analysis of Variance (Master's Level), Cognitive Processes (Master's Level), Behavior Modification, Research Methods, Cognitive Neuroscience, and Behavioral Neuroscience, as well as other topics related to the candidate's research interests.
Candidates are expected to develop an independent and productive research program, including engaging students in research. Other duties Include advising students, mentoring undergraduate and graduate student research, and participating in service at the departmental and campus-wide levels. We seek candidates who will create a climate that helps attract and is inclusive of all students.
Qualifications: Required:
• PhD in psychology, Exceptional ABD candidates with a firm completion date prior to 8/1/2025 will be considered
• Must be committed to excellent teaching and demonstrate potential for research productivity, particularly involving student research collaborators
Preferred:
• Expertise in Learning broadly construed (e.g., behavior analysis, machine/statistical learning, animal behavior) and/or advanced Quantitative methods
