Duties: The State University of New York (SUNY) at New Paltz invites applications for a Contracting Agent and M/WBE Liaison in the Purchasing Department. The primary function of the Purchasing Department is the procurement of products, services, software and technologies, consulting services, as well as facilities and construction services required by the University to fulfill its mission in education, research, economic, and cultural/social development. Through effective communication, both internal and external, the Purchasing Department strives to provide for the varied needs of the campus community while complying with the laws and regulations of New York State as well as the policies and procedures of the State University of New York. This involves balancing effective and timely service to our customers and providing an environment of good sound business controls to protect the assets of SUNY New Paltz.

The position will be responsible for conducting bids and related procurements from start to finish, in accordance with all campus, SUNY, and NY State requirements, for a wide variety of software and other technologies, services, products, and consultants. The successful candidate will work in collaboration with, and on behalf of, the various departments on campus requesting the contracts. The position will also be responsible for helping to facilitate the campus’ ongoing efforts to utilize Minority-owned Business Enterprises (MBE), Women-owned Business Enterprises (WBE), and Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Business’ (SDVOB) campus-wide. The position will be responsible for quarterly and annual reporting duties and compliance functions associated with SUNY’s M/WBE and SDVOB program, as well as other duties as assigned by the Director.

Qualifications: Required:
• Bachelor's degree
• A minimum of 3 years of business experience, preferably in Purchasing, Contracting, Procurement, or a related field
• Strong project management, organizational, and customer service skills
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to effectively manage multiple and competing priorities and deadlines
• Ability to see the value propositions that exist among a myriad of guidelines and
procedures, and be able to communicate those to stakeholders

Preferred:
• Experience with, and proficiency in, navigating complex purchasing and contracting policies and procedures
