Duties: The State University of New York (SUNY) at New Paltz invites applications for a full-time (10-month) tenure-track Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering position in the division of Engineering, with an anticipated start date of August 2025. Successful candidates are expected to develop a productive research program that integrates New Paltz undergraduate and graduate students. The successful candidate would typically teach three course equivalents per semester in addition to advising, research, and service.

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching innovative and project-based courses in the Electrical Engineering curriculum. Applicants with expertise in all fundamental areas of Electrical Engineering are invited to apply. Teaching duties will be a mix of undergraduate and graduate courses from freshmen through master’s level offerings. A willingness and ability to teach all required courses across the undergraduate curriculum and appropriate interdisciplinary courses across the Division of Engineering Programs’ offerings is a must.

The Statement on Teaching Philosophy MUST address each of the following explicitly:
• A willingness and ability to teach fundamental courses in the division of Engineering Programs (e.g. Intro to Engineering);
• A willingness and ability to teach most courses in the undergraduate Electrical Engineering Program
• A commitment to teaching courses in a way that supports the overall goals of the Electrical Engineering Program and the Division of Engineering Programs
• A commitment to data supported best practices in pedagogy and a plan to implement them in the classroom.
• A commitment to advising undergraduate students in their academic career, internship opportunities, graduate school, and career prospects.
• A commitment to designing and implementing assessments that support New Paltz’s ABET accreditation.
• A commitment to educating a diverse body of learners.
• A commitment to creating an educational environment that is professional, respectful, and equitable. Faculty are expected to communicate respect through their actions, and refrain from behavior that might be generally recognized as bullying, discrimination, or harassment.

The Statement on Research Interests MUST address each of the following explicitly:
• A commitment to establishing a scholarly program that involves undergraduate students including potential ways in which undergraduate students can contribute;
• A commitment to advising students through an MS thesis who choose to pursue their undergraduate research further into the graduate level.
• A list of equipment including software requited to conduct research. Please include rough estimates on pricing
• An estimate on space required to house and conduct research.

The Letter of Application MUST address address each of the following:
• Ways in which the candidate has performed service to this point in their career
• Ways in which potential service opportunities could serve the candidate’s career aspirations and New Paltz

Qualifications: Required:
• Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field. Exceptional ABD candidates with a firm completion date will also be considered.

Preferred:
• Significant industrial experience
