Duties: The Department of Sociology at the State University of New York (SUNY) at New Paltz is seeking a full-time lecturer on a three-year renewable contract starting in the fall of 2025. Tee candidate should be a generalist capable of teaching a variety of courses at the upper and lower division level ranging from Introduction to Sociology and Social Inequality to Research Methods and the Senior Seminar. Electives In one’s area of specialization can also be Included. The standard assigned teaching load for a full-time lecturer is 5-5 for spring and fall semesters with possible reassigned time for service activities. This is a 10-month contract with no summer obligation, service responsibilities or research expectations.

Qualifications: Required:
• Masters degree in sociology
• Post-secondary teaching experience as the Instructor of record

Preferred:
• Ph.D. in Sociology
• Proficiency with instructional technology and online teaching
• Experience with engaged learning pedagogies
• Experience in teaching a diverse student body and creating a climate that helps attract and is inclusive of all students
