Duties: The Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures at the State University of New York (SUNY) at New Paltz invites applications for a three-year renewable lecturer position in Hebrew Language and Jewish Studies. The appointment will be at the level of lecturer with an anticipated start date of August 2025. SUNY New Paltz is a competitive regional comprehensive university with a diverse student body, with students coming primarily from New York City, Long Island, and upstate New York. Currently 26% of our majors identify as Asian-Pacific, Black. Latinx, or multi~racial.
Duties of the role include but are not limited to:
• Workload is the equivalent of 30 credits per year, which will include a mixture of teaching elementary through advanced Hebrew language courses as well as content courses in English;
• Student advising;
• Coordinate the Resnick Lecture Series;
• Serve as coordinator of Jewish Studies, including advising students and promoting the program;
• Other program duties
Qualifications: Required:
• Master's degree in Second Language Acquisition or a related field in Hebrew language and Jewish Studies;
• Native/near native Hebrew and English speaker;
Preferred:
• Ph.D. in Second Language Acquisition or a related field in Hebrew language and Jewish Studies;
• Instructional technology and post-secondary teaching experience
