Duties: The Center for Student Engagement in the State University of New York (SUNY) at New Paltz welcomes applications for the role of Coordinator for Student Union Experience. The Coordinator for Student Union Experience is responsible for the strategic oversight of scheduling, coordinating, and facilitating a diverse range of activities, events, programs, and meetings within the Student Union facilities. In this role, the Coordinator for Student Union Experience will assume responsibility for supervising and leading a team of student workers, including Student Union Managers and Event Support Staff.

This position will support all operations and functions of the Student Union Building, including the Atrium, and will address the nuances of day-of-event requests or troubleshooting concerns, and be a resource to all student organizations and clubs as well as campus partners who reserve venue space in the Student Union Building. This is a 12-month, full time, position. The position is represented by United University Professionals (UUP) and features competitive NYS benefits.

Duties of the role include but are not limited to:
• Serve in Student Affairs as part of the Center for Student Engagement, which provides services including orientation and transition programs, leadership development and student activities, fraternity and sorority support, student union building operations, and community and civic engagement.
• Work collaboratively within and beyond this team to contribute to a vibrant student life program that engages students across campus.
• Recruit, hire, train, and supervise the Event Support Staff. This includes conducting regularly scheduled one-on-one meetings as well as staff meetings to ensure ongoing development and efficiency of the student role.
• Assist the Assistant Director with consultation, review, and approval of event submissions and reservations from student organizations and campus partners.
• Assist the Assistant Director in meetings with student organizations and campus partners to solidify event details including but limited to reservation requests, venue setups, and event needs.
• Oversee all reservations of the spaces within the Student Union Building including assisting the Assistant Director with submission of work orders related to events within the building and needed maintenance of the facilities, including but not limited to the Entertainment Commons, the SUB Ballroom, E-sports Lounge, etc.
• Assist the Assistant Director with addressing event concerns.
• Serve as the primary staff member that liaises with Instructional Media Services for technology management within the Student Union Building.
• Oversee the shift schedule of the Student Union Managers and the Event Support Staff.
• Assist in the management of the student engagement/student organizations and clubs platform, Anthology Engage.
• Work will include nights and weekends in the form of rotational office coverage and assigned programming; flexibility of scheduled hours to support departmental programs expected.
• Serve on the Student Affairs committees and working groups

Qualifications: Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in related field and a minimum of two years of direct relevant experience.
• Professional experience with knowledge in student activities, event planning, facilities operations, hospitality management, or college student personnel.
• Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations and in developing inclusive communities and work teams.
• Demonstrated experience using technology to enhance student experience.
• Strong organizational ability, interpersonal skills, strategic and analytical skills.
• Ability to work some nights and weekends required

Preferred:
• Experience in student union programming.
• Experience mentoring or advising students.
• Experience with Anthology Engage.
• Ability to work within a dynamic environment
