NYS Assembly, District 29
As a member of the New York State Assembly, I currently represent the 29th District encompassing the neighborhoods of Laurelton, Rosedale, St. Albans, Addisleigh Park, Hollis, Springfield Gardens and Jamaica in Queens, New York. I work with my colleagues in government to collectively legislate the $145 billion NYS Budget. This budget affects everything from our schools, transportation, environment, health, infrastructure, small businesses, food, and other goods and services that involve the residents of NYS.
Being a student at SUNY New Paltz provided me with an education that has opened up doors and opportunities that I could never have imagined if I did not further my education beyond high school. My studies, extracurricular activities, on campus employment, and friendships helped to create a foundation on which to build leadership skills as well as great team skills. I was a resident assistant, worked nights with Campus Safety, worked with Student Activities during the summer, pledged a national sorority, wrote for a school newspaper, and chaired the Black Weekend Association. The four years I spent at SUNY New Paltz have everything to do with the person I am today. I entered the school only knowing one person and left with a huge family.
